I wish to thank my friend for translating this into English for me from the French. I am French and my job, along with others, is to guard the Mona Lisa. I want to tell everyone what actually happened. I was on duty last Thursday guarding the Mona Lisa. We take turns in three hourly stints. We simply pretend to be tourists passing through but keep an eagle eye out for trouble. When a man’s gotta go a man’s gotta go, as we say in French. I was bursting. So I left being on duty and went to the bathroom. There were very few tourists about that day any way. When I came back – after a couple of brief minutes – the painting had gone. Ripped off the wall and gone. Vamoose! Of course I reported it straight away to the authorities who shut the building down immediately. Apparently the police have made no advances in their investigation. Of course the painting is so famous that the thief could have trouble selling it: “For sale! The original Mona Lisa recently stolen. Buy now!” But I have a plan. Back to Index Next Story Previous Story |
