3248. Parents!

Martin had reached that age for some when parents were an embarrassment. His school was having its athletics sports day. The day would end with a grand parade. Each class would march around the sports field and the class that portrayed the most military precision was award extra points in the competition.

Martin set out marching with his class. Left right left right. All was going well.

As they passed the main grandstand a loud voice was heard to shout over the brass band. It was Martin’s mother.

“Marty Darling, I’ve parked the car near the library.”

With his class mates on hand Marty Darling preferred not to notice. But his class mates noticed alright!
